On Fridays, we offer a Nature immersion outdoor program.  Held entirely in the forest, rain, snow or shine, this program is an opportunity to help children to be healthy, develop bonds with the earth, and prepare for formal schooling.  Here the emphasis is on ample free play, long walks along the trail, exploration, stopping to recognize, appreciate, and contemplate.  Learning emerges with lessons flowing organically from forest exploration, wildcrafting, learning assigned tasks (chores), teaching sustainable practices with a focus on caring, compassion, and connection.

As always, to provide security and a sense of wholeness of life, our time together has predictable rhythms through the day, week, and year.  Teacher-prepared snack with tea from herbs gathered in the forest is an integral part of the program.

“The heart of the Waldorf method is that education is an art – it must speak to the child’s experience. To educate the whole child, his heart and his will must be reached, as well as the mind.”
