Veteran's Day Waldorf Handwork Experience

  • Bozeman Public Library Bozeman, MT (map)

In honor of Veterans Day World Family School is setting up a Waldorf inspired sewing shop, where you and your children can make felt poppies to keep or give away.

The poppy, a traditional symbol of Veterans Day was the first thing to grow back on the battlefield, as it thrives in the absense of other flowers. Dr. John McCrae observed poppies growing between crosses on the soldier's graves, inspiring him to write the famous poem, IN FLANDERS FIELDS. The poppy has since been known as "The Flower of Rememberance" and is worn in memory of our veterans.

Sewing felt poppies is fun, beautiful, and therapeutic, while giving children a sewing experience that they can connect to.
You can choose to turn your poppy into a pin, vase flower, or ornament.

All ages welcome. Children age 3+ will be able to make a poppy (with adult help).
